What is a Private Swap?
Private Swaps are ColibriSwap's flagship routing option, built for users who need the highest level of transactional privacy. A standard swap leaves a clear on-chain link between your input and output wallets — a Private Swap breaks that link by routing the trade through two independent non-custodial exchanges, with a temporary Layer-1 token acting as an intermediary asset.
Even though we recently launched, our Private routing model is built on the same battle-tested design used to process hundreds of millions in privacy-preserving swap volume across the industry.
- Maximum Privacy: The sender and receiver addresses are never linked on-chain.
- Non-Custodial: ColibriSwap never takes possession of your funds.
- Same-Chain: Send and receive the same token on the same chain.

- No KYC by default: Standard swaps do not require identity verification.
How it Works
A Private Swap routes each transaction through two unrelated intermediaries:
- Deposit — You send your input asset to a temporary deposit address generated for your swap.
- First leg — The first exchange converts your input into a neutral intermediary asset on a Layer-1 network.
- Second leg — A second, independent exchange converts that intermediary into your requested output token.
- Delivery — Your output arrives at the receiver address you specified.
What Makes it Private?
Every trade is broken into two legs handled by two different venues. Because the intermediary asset lives on a separate chain and the two exchanges do not share order flow, an on-chain observer can never draw a straight line from your sending address to your receiving address.
